Data communication is the transfer of data from one device to the next via an electronic transmission medium. It is possible to do this using wired media like twisted pair cable or coaxial cable, or wireless media such as optic fibers or radio waves. The data has to be encoded, encapsulated and transmitted by the device transmitting it, and then decoded and removed from the device receiving it. This process is similar to analog signal transmission, but it is more complex and focuses on binary data (1s & 1s &).
